Sally is an experienced teacher with a passion for working with students with Specific Learning Disorder and gaps in their academic progress. She knows that students may struggle academically if their learning has been interrupted by inconsistent schooling, attention difficulties or trauma. Specific Learning Disorders such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia are tough to cope with in the school system, without targeted and high-quality 1:1 intervention. It is difficult for many schools to resource this. It is essential that a student’s specific learning needs are accurately identified and addressed. No two students are the same. Individual diagnostics, educational planning and tutoring that utilises exactly the right tools are needed. Effective liaison with schools, specialists and families is invaluable to build the strongest bridge to success for your child.
Sally moved to the Sunshine Coast after teaching at mainstream Secondary level in Victoria. She had completed her Graduate Diploma in Special Ed and worked with students with disability, leading teachers and coordinating school programs. More recently she has been lucky enough to spend many years at Matthew Flinders Anglican College in Buderim, working in Secondary Learning Support, before heading to The Rockhampton Grammar School for a wonderful eight years in the Primary Learning Support and Extension area.
Bridge Learning offers the most intensive, effective model of intervention for students. We believe that students with difficulties respond best to individual tutoring. As a teacher with 20 years’ experience, Sally has worked as both a Classroom and Learning Support Teacher in Secondary and Primary settings. She has coordinated Individual Learning Programs for students, worked directly with their specialists and families for many years and helped train other teachers.
Sally knows what is required by the school system, the classroom teachers, the teacher aides, families and medical specialists. She has a high level of expertise with recognized best-practice, evidence-based programs. She knows what works.
We all know there is no magic pill to help with learning needs. The work just needs to be done, for as long as it needs to be done. It is possible though, to waste a great deal of time and money with less ideal approaches to intervention. Many good, well-intentioned people will work very hard to try to fill that bucket with holes in it.
Bridge Learning will only ever deliver programs and tutoring methods backed by the highest level of research and evidence to support their efficacy. There is no time to waste. Let’s find those holes and fix them, for good!
